Been so obsessed with my new team blog, I've kind of forgotten I have one here too. But what is there to write anyway; it's just a normal life with so mundane events people try to exaggerate with a lousy pen. Which always smudges, never a pretty sight.

Found out two things which have never been classified as 'indispensible', but now they officially are: Internet, and planning. It sounds weird I know, especially since the latter two aren't physical objects/material wants; they're just simple actions. Life without Internet is torture, simple as that. Can't live without msn I realised. Coincidentally it's the end of year 2006, and honestly, compared to last year, I don't give that much of a shit anymore. Every year's the same I guess, so screw it.

Actually maybe not la.. but I can't stand the feeling of being in the middle of the street at 12.01 am with no transport home. As in, countdown ends about five minutes after midnight, so if you're not at Sentosa or Vivo, I don't see where you can go except clubbing. And I'm terribly broke now.

2006 was a crappy year, with 5/6 taken up by NS. But at least now I can say I'm officially freed from National Service. The two years of hell finally over; I'm just glad to see the back of it.

After referring to my last two year end posts I gather I have more to write. But I'll try something new this year. Giving out awards!

Person of the Year 2006
LTA(now captain) David Tan Chee Wee

Without Sir, I don't think we could have survived 40 SAR. The few of us worked tirelessly, yet were always reprimanded if anything went wrong - the first line of defence. Sir protected us, covered us in times of need, gave welfare to make us feel better. He made us feel that we were working for a cause, that we were human beings that were actually contributing to the SAF ideology, even though it was all a farce. For this, Cpt David gets the Person of 2006.

Loser of the Year 2006
Manager, in-charge-of-store, Wincor

Close runners-up include 1SG Wong NM and 40 SAR MO. Actually if this was done during August, it would be theirs. However, due to the incident last Tues, I'm inclined to dish out to the deserving winner. This fag tried to intimidate a new worker (me), who was carrying out his duty rather dutifully, and used his rank to demand I act like his slave. I don't answer to anyone, fag, least to you. So here's your award.

Shock of the Year 2006
Zi Jian is ACSI rugby dude

Seriously. I'll never recover from this.

Close-runner-up: someone thinks Chen Weilian is shuai. Omfg.

Okay, wishes for 2007. Basically they remain very much the same as 2006, only they must succeed this time.

Deathnote was cool. I want my Misa Amane please.

Merry Christmas all.

HA I passed my advance theory test with the minimal of fuss. Nothing like last-minute studying; brings back good memories.

Had some minor struggle with emotions, and the battle has been won for now. Distractions that come from a soccer team that is flourishing certainly helps; for once I can rely on someone more energetic than Zhipeng and Leonard. Can't deny that Yew Tze brings so much to the team, and Tay by himself has been an enormous asset. He just brings the enthu factor that is so important.

Jerseys next? Or should I tackle the class gatherings that seem to be piling up.

Someday We'll Know

The New Radicals

90miles outside Chicago
Can't stop driving
I don't know why
So many questions
I need an answer
Two years later
You're still on my mind

Whatever happened to Amelia Earhart?
Who holds the stars up in the sky?
Is true love just once in a lifetime?
Did the captain of the Titanic cry?

Someday we'll know if love can move a mountain
Someday we'll know why the sky is blue
Someday we'll know why I wasn't meant for you
Does anybody know the way to Atlantis
Or what the wind says when she cries
I'm speeding by the place that I met you
For the 97th time tonight

Someday we'll know if love can move a mountain
Someday we'll know why the sky is blue
Someday we'll know why I wasn't meant for you
Someday we'll know why Samson loved Delilah
One day I'll go dancing on the moon
Someday you'll know that I was the one for you

I bought a ticket to the end of the rainbow
I watched the stars crash in the sea
If I could ask God just one question
Why aren't you here with me tonight

Someday we'll know if love can move a mountain
Someday we'll know why the sky is blue
Someday we'll know why I wasn't meant for you
Someday we'll know why Samson loved Delilah
One day I'll go dancing on the moon

Someday you'll know that I was the one for you

I didn't go for dance.

I like watching people dance. Dance is an art; not only those classical forms like ballet and foxtrot and waltz, but also hip hop and techno. I really enjoy the energy, the gestures and steps that paint a whole story in an extravagance of lithe movements and elaborate expressions.

But I didn't go for dance.

I'll be lying if I said it was solely for myself. It's for someone, perhaps. The person, who slowly, seemingly unknowingly, tugged me gently with her invisible hand. Easing me, pushing me subtly into the world of dance. And it is this hand I must let go, for it exists no longer. Or maybe, it was never there at all.

So.. I didn't go for dance.

Survived the Monday Madness, so I shall attempt to tackle Terrible Tuesday with some enthusiasm. This time with the new and trusty K800i by my side. Acquired it on Sensational Saturday, used it and found it hard on Super Sunday, but it shall follow me into the wild now. K800i is a camera, with added phone features. Seriously.. feels weird.

Woeful Wednesday will be a lonely one as the damn Shi Da has taken leave.. Trying Thurs followed by Fabulous Friday. And the cycle goes on.

Work work.. I feel like a private all over again. Chen Weilian won two awards.. did I mention that? it's totally weird, faggoty, repulsive and all the f-words and s-words and stuff. Please do not vote for blind people who have no talent. He's a bloody hyprocrite, and a very petty one at that. Not to mention shameless. And dude Leo, please control.

Los El Ninos.. sounds good?

This is super irritating. Now it's Blogger Beta instead of just plain old Blogger. I have no idea why I upgraded it; maybe I wanted to see the new functions Blogger promised, or just bored perhaps. My team blog is inactive, the guys aren't interested, but still I could rectify the situation given time, and now it's one big mess. The HTML has reverted back to it's initial state - gibberish. The interface is more user-friendly I suppose, but those are just the basics, and I've gotten over them so long ago.

Feeling some tightening around the waist. It's tension, and I'll rather it be that of last weekend. Joblessness or job stress. It's my first job, but I'm not allowed to make mistakes. It's tough, there's alot of things here and there which a veteran should handle. A thousand dollars a month, yet I'll do without it. Someone's got to start somewhere.

DotA match on fri night, went SWA yesterday.. nothing remarkably special. At least, none as terrifying spectacular and disgustingly impossible as Chen Weilian winning two awards.

I think I shouldn't think so much. It's good to evaluate and consider all the possibilities, but it becomes unhealthy when indulged too much. There's also the problem of time; since it is a limited commodity, therefore a luxury one cannot afford.

I spent the night going through my options repetitively, and wound up with the same conclusion at 0300 hours. At 0600 hours I woke up. Tackling the issue with an active mind rather than sorting through my nightly thoughts seemed clearer and more rational. Phonecalls came shortly, one after another. In all, nearly eight hours to arrive at a decision, which it totally absurd.

It's not the best of conditions to begin work tomorrow.

It just demons playing with my head.

Maybe.. it's just me, playing with my head.

I'm having some anxiety pangs here, a little mild irritation, all in the form of a NTU letter. It's not a nice feeling, having to worry about the place in university. It's also not a very big issue if they do mess up, as I have my acceptance letter. So what if I have it though? the admin staff can just take it away just as easily. Too bad for a second-class citizen.

But after the last one year or so, everything that was once of 'great magnitude' has gone one grade lower. It's not that the issues are any less important, just that there's this whole new load of possibilities that widen one's perspective. Doesn't tie you down that much anymore, not like fifteen months ago.

Was talking just now, and to that question of going back in time, to May the fifth, 2005, I reply yes. Unabashed, laced with no regrets. Yes to the torrid times of NS, to the outfields, yes to all the unpleasant things that cropped up on the way. Back to the time.. when you might have cared.
